It all started with my beloved Siamese mix, Mehitabel. She was the kind of cat sweet, vulnerable, playful who engenders deep love and loyalty. She loved to fetch pipe cleaners twisted to look like spiders, to sleep under tents made of the New York Times, and to eat asparagus in her seat at the dinner table. Mehitabel was one of those once-in-a-lifetime companions.
This beloved friend developed soiling problems. First it was puddles on the floor. Over time it became puddles and strategically placed feces. These changes in behavior signaled to me that she was in distress, distress that I desperately wanted to understand and remedy.
For years I tried everything I knew, pulling together a care team that included veterinarians, behaviorists and other specialists. We explored possible causes of the behavior: urinary tract infection, nutrition, the numerous stray cats passing through the yard, litter box upkeep, the litter itself, even the arrangement of furniture in the house. Unfortunately, each adjustment left the soiling behavior unchanged.
Early in this process, a friend had pressed a Post-It with the name and phone number of an animal communicator onto my refrigerator door. That yellow Post-It remained there unheeded for three years, three long years of trying everything I knew. As the soiling behavior continued escalating, I became desperate enough to go beyond what I knew. It was time to phone this animal communicator.
The appointment was by phone. This arrangement was already a stretch for me as a skeptic, for I lived in the left-brained world of scripting and programming languages, Internet technologies, and shipping software. However, I recognized Mehitabel’s personality in the words the animal communicator chose to relay her thoughts and emotions. The communicator learned that Mehitabel had likely been born in a kitten mill. Angry and stressed, her mother had had no love to give. This traumatic kittenhood had left her without the resources to deal with loss, worry, and stress in her adult life. The changes in our lives moving into a new home, my separation from my spouse, the long hours I was working to make the mortgage had triggered Mehitabel’s soiling behavior.
The validations continued after the consultation as well. I saw immediate improvement in Mehitabel’s behavior. She even used the signal that she and the animal communicator had devised to let me know when she was overwhelmed and in need of comforting. The signal? Mehitabel was to climb onto my lap and look me intently in the eye.
The consultation was successful all around. Mehitabel gained relief through having her needs understood; I had the information I needed to enhance her health and well being; and I was committed to learning how to talk with animals myself. I could not imagine a better invitation to spiritual awakening than talking one-on-one with animals. Within a year, I had completed my first, 31+ hour animal communication workshop and was on track to leave my directorship in the software industry for professional training in animal communication. I have since completed hundreds of hours of training and certification. See below for details.
My practice has evolved over the years from telepathic problem solving with animals to a mix of troubleshooting and energetic healing. Theta-Healing is my primary tool for healing work.
I have branched out to offer counseling and energetic healing work not only to animals but, also, people. Think of it as the latest in family systems work. Animals so often mirror the troubles their human companions are experiencing that it was a natural seque to work directly with people.
I currently offer my human clients counseling and ThetaHealing by phone and at my office. For more information about my ThetaHealing practice, seminars, and scheduling appointments, please visit my new website or phone (503) 719-4770.
For those who are unfamiliar with it, ThetaHealing is a powerful and versatile healing tool, bringing rapid, lasting, and profound change at the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. I encourage everyone to have a session to try it out as well as to learn how to do it for themselves. The keyword here is t r a n s f o r m a t i o n . See Workshops for more information about ThetaHealing and animal communication seminars.

I am a skilled communicator, mediator, and mentor. Before becoming an animal communicator, I enjoyed careers in academia and the software industry. For eight years I taught university English and research writing; for another seven I worked in the software industry on publishing and Internet technologies. While in software, I worked as a programmer-writer, object model tester, and technical program manager at Microsoft before taking on a directorship at a dot.com. During my dot.com phase, I embarked on the course of study that culminated in my becoming a professional animal communicator in 2001.
The common thread uniting my educational and work experiences is language, whether spoken languages or programming languages. To my mind, telepathic animal communication is yet another language. It is heart-based, intuitive, and authentic. Most importantly, it unites us all. We can all speak this language from the day we are born. It’s just that most of us need a little nudge to remember how.
