ThetaHealing: Consciously Using Brainwaves
to Bring Change
The name ThetaHealing derives from the theta brainwave, which ThetaHealing practitioners access to do the healing work. Theta is the brainwave of
- REM sleep, dreaming, and lucid dreaming
- deep, yogic meditation
- hypnosis
- firewalking
- telepathy
Through the theta brainwave we gain access to our deepest beliefs, traumas, and childhood learning. Even if long-forgotten, they influence our decisions daily. ThetaHealing provides the tools for tracking down whatever holds us back and for changing our maladaptive learning into positive ways of being.
Tell Me More About Brainwaves
There are five known brainwaves: delta (0 – 4 Hz), theta (4 – 7 Hz), alpha (7 – 14 Hz), beta (14 – 28 Hz), and gamma (40 – 5,000 Hz). Theta is the wave of the unconscious mind, instant healing, and deep spiritual connection.
Studies conducted using electroencephalographs (EEG's) on ThetaHealing practitioners confirm that they go into a theta brainwave, or theta-gamma, while witnessing healings. EEG's further indicate that the client goes effortlessly into a theta brainwave while receiving a healing. Knowing about brainwaves provides external validation of ThetaHealing, namely, that it accesses the frequency of profound spiritual connection and transformation.
Delta (0 – 4 Hz)
Delta is the wave of deep sleep and unconsciousness.
Theta (4 – 7 Hz)
Theta is the wave of the unconscious mind and deep spiritual connection. Electroencephalographs (EEG's) have demonstrated that the ThetaHealing practitioner goes into a theta brainwave, or theta-gamma, while witnessing healings. EEG's further indicate that the client goes into a theta brainwave while receiving a healing.

- profound healing, learning, and growth
Through the theta brainwave we gain access to our unconscious mind, namely, our deepest beliefs, traumas, and childhood learning. Even if long-forgotten, they influence our decisions daily. ThetaHealing aids us in discovering the fears and beliefs that drive us and in changing them into life-affirming ways of being.
Theta is also the state of deep spiritual connection. Have you ever experienced the sublime? For instance, have you stood on a mountain top, feeling at one with your surroundings, and absolutely known that you are connected to everyone and every thing - past, present, and future? Known that God, the Creative Life Force, is? That's the kind of knowing the theta brainwave engenders.
Alpha (7 – 14 Hz)
Alpha is the relaxed, meditative state we're in while daydreaming or in detached awareness. The alpha brainwave forms a bridge between the conscious (beta) and unconscious (theta) mind. It is associated with creativity and rapid learning. For this reason, energy healing techniques, such as Reiki, use this frequency. And guided meditations bring participants into alpha to promote relaxation and healing. The alpha state is especially effective for relieving pain.
Those who don't function well at this frequency find it difficult to remember details of even powerful dreams, guided visualizations, and meditations. In short, that bridge between conscious and unconscious mind is weak.
Beta (14 – 28 Hz)
Beta is the brainwave of talking, thinking, problem solving, consciously interacting with others. We spend most of our waking lives in beta. This brainwave makes us feel active and alert.
Gamma (40 – 5,000 Hz)
Gamma is the frequency of heightened perception processing of sensory input, or hyper-alert awareness. Experienced ThetaHealing practitioners are thought to cycle between theta and gamma during (EEG's are only now becoming sensitive enough to measure the gamma frequency). Has your perception of time ever slowed down during an emergency? Have you ever had minutes or hours worth of experiences in a moment? That's your mind cycling between the theta and gamma brainwaves. The theta-gamma state is most conducive to instant healings.
Brainwaves At Work
The ThetaHealing practitioner cycles through various brainwaves throughout the session. While witnessing a healing, the ThetaHealing practitioner is in theta, or theta-gamma. This is the state of instant healing. While talking with the client, the practitioner is in beta, or waking consciousness. When switching from the theta to the beta brainwave, the practitioner passes briefly through alpha.
A growing body of research supports the connection between specific brainwaves and intuitive healing. This research has given rise to products such as meditation CD's, which are designed to coax the listeners' brain into the most effective frequency for that particular meditation. Remember, the alpha state promotes relaxation; hence, a relaxation CD is designed to induce that brainwave. The theta state promotes heightened spiritual states. A meditation with that goal will induce the theta brainwave.
ThetaHealing is, in a sense, a technology for accessing the theta state at will – no gadgets required!
